Well I have to admit that this is a review as well as an advertisement. As a member of OLL Catholic Church I of course want them to have a good Incredible Festival. Even if I was not a member I would still give a thumbs up.
The Incredible Festival is this weekend and I would hate for any locals not to know about it. The fun starts at 5pm on Friday (Sept 9) on the OLL church grounds, goes all day Saturday and then Sunday till 4 or 5pm. It is in its 32nd year (started the year I was born) and started as a chicken dinner that has now progressed into so much more. We haven't gone to the State Fair in a few years partly because of the fun of the festival.
The biggest highlight is the rides, all from the company that does the rides at the State Fair. We always buy our all day ride wristbands early so we get a deal and the kids can ride to their hearts content. Even our 3 yr old gets his moneys worth! Another highlight is the food... you may not find candy bar on a stick or fried alligator but the french fries, egg rolls, beer and other foods can feed you for the whole weekend. There is a silent auction full of tons of items, a raffle and a lot of entertainment. Kids can participate in the kiddie parade on Saturday (the theme is favorite cartoon character) and anyone can run/walk the 5k earlier in the morning (Me and the 2 oldest will be for the first time).

What I like is everything is in the parking lot and the church, making it very managable for anyone to get around. You can go for a few hours or all 3 days and not have to pay to get in.
My only bummer is that I have something else for parts of the weekend so I wont get to spend as much time there, but my rest of my family will be able to hang out. And I just heard the weather should be pretty nice. So go an enjoy one of the last weekends of the summer!

The Help (Movie) - Thumbs Up
I posted this review recently on a couple other sites so I thought I would share it here. I had a chance to see a sneak peek of the movie "The Help" and could not stop giving it rave reviews.
I read "The Help" last year after multiple recommendations. I agreed with most that it was a great book worthy of a read. So of course I was intrigued when I heard the book was being made into a movie. Could they do the book justice? Well I am happy to say, yes. I couldn't see anything they changed for the movie. Yes they didn't include everything, but what they didn't made sense in relationship to the length of the movie. I give high praise to those that cast the movie. Emma Stone played a convincing, akward Skeeter. Those that played Abilene and Minnie enveloped their role as "the help". Even, the little actress playing Mae Mobily (sp?) seemed perfect for the role. This is pretty much a chick flick... Women rule the movie and account for over 98% of the dialog. But the experiences brought up could be a history lesson for all. I had a teacher once that lived in the south during the time of segregation and she said she had seen a lot of what is shown in the movie. With the PG-13 rating I could see not showing it to younger children, but it actually would be good to show older children and use parts as teaching moments. I have already highly recommended it to others.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - Thumbs Up
I had used Mr. Clean Magic Eraser in the past for "kids artwork in the wrong place", but otherwise I had kept it in the cleaning cupboard waiting for the perfect reason to use it. I found it today. We had a couple pairs of tennis shoes that we had used to paint with as well as some other shoes and Crocs that needed cleaning and I brought the Eraser out. It worked wonderful! Especially on the tennis shoes and the white pair of Crocs. They look almost brand new.
I had heard stories like this but now I am a believer. I am going to need to buy more of these Erasers.

Finish Powerball Tabs - Thumbs Up
For many months (years?) we were washing our dishes in the dishwasher and they were coming out with this white powdery substance on it. A friend said that it could be how they have changed the formula of dishwasher detergent and suggested adding lemon juice. We did and that only helped a smidgen. We talked to others and they suggested looking into the Finish packs. I bought a small pack of Finish Powerball Tabs and then got a bigger pack at Costco.
We LOVE them. No more white powdery substance. The dishes look so sparkling clean. Even right after the first load we saw a change. And as an added benefit our dishwasher that had been getting brown stains inside (and I would clean once in a while with hardly any change) is starting to look white, especially on the inside dishwasher drawer.
If you are having any problems with your dishwasher detergent I recommend you to run to your nearest store and pick some of this up!

Walgreens - Thumbs Down
This is my opinion of my local Walgreens in Mound, MN. I haven't been to any others lately so I cannot attest to them all being like this.
Now the one positive, the employees I encountered were all very nice.
The BIG negative... they have nothing on their shelves! I had about 8 things on my list and left with 2 things when I went the other day. Most of those things not available were on sale and/or items that had I had a good coupon for. I honestly feel a little bait and switch going on, but I did not just buy another product, I didn't need it that bad.
This Walgreens is new to the area, they had bought out our local Thrifty White Drug Store. I sure thought when that happened that there would be a lot more options as far as what was available. I even thought that they could take the place of the Snyder's that closed less then 10 min away.
No luck there.
Honestly, myself (and others) are about ready to give up on the place.
